Topher off the Ventilator

Yesterday they extubated Topher and now he’s on the c-pap (prongs up the nose and tubes held in place by a hat, some rubber bands, and safety pins — that’s technology for ya!) for his oxygen.  I forgot the camera, so hopefully they didn’t need to intubate him again last night so that I can take pictures.  The last time they extubated him, he was about 3 weeks old (I think) and he was only strong enough to breathe on his own for an hour; plus his nose was much much smaller so the prongs didn’t fit in very well.  Then he stopped and they had to reconnect him to the ventilator.  Hopefully this time he’ll be strong enough.  We’ll keep you posted!

Thanks for the update and especially for the pictures. We are impressed with how feisty he seems to be. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
